Accessing WestMET Group SharePoint

Summary

How to access WestMET SharePoint

Body

Issue/Question

I am a WestMET employee (or Westmoreland shared services user) and I need to access files or resources on the WestMET Group SharePoint site.

Environment

WestMET users should have access to this SharePoint site because of their location on the WestMET Group tenant domain (corp.local).

Westmoreland Shared Services users will have access if they have been approved to have access, been invited from the WestMet Group Tenant, and have successfully signed in through the invitation email.

Where to find the SharePoint Site:

Resolution/Instructions

Accessing SharePoint

  1. Open your preferred web browser. (MS Edge or Google Chrome)
  2. Visit the SharePoint Login at https://westmetgroup.sharepoint.com
  3. Login using your WestMET email (e.g., yourname@westmetgroup.com) and password.
    • Shared Services User: login with your westmoreland email address and password.

This link serves as the primary navigation hub for WestMET SharePoint. Here, you'll find links to both internal and external sites, as well as any additional resources like PowerBI links (these will be added soon).

Using the Search Bar

To locate specific documents or sites, utilize the search bar at the top. Enter your keywords and press enter to view relevant results.

Accessing Documents

Within each site, you'll typically encounter "Document Libraries", which are essentially our digital folders for storing and organizing files.

Click on the desired library to explore its contents. Current sites include:

  • Communication: Your go-to for documents, safety shares, company news, articles, and other updates.
  • HR: Functions similarly to our previous Westmoreland HR site. Note that some folders here are restricted; if you need access, please request it.
  • Ag: Dedicated to the agricultural side of WestMET, housing related documents and updates.
  • Earth Restoration Services: While currently less populated, I encourage everyone to familiarize themselves with this site and consider how it can be beneficial.

Uploading Files

Inside a Document Library, click on the "+ New" button to create a new document or folder.

Drag and drop files from your computer into the library to upload them, or use the upload button.

Collaborating on Documents

Click on a document to open it. SharePoint allows multiple users to edit documents simultaneously.

Use the "Share" button to invite others to view or edit.
