Converting HEIC image into a JPEG or PNG
When needing to view a HEIC photo on Windows. This is the default file type from Apple products which isn't supported on Windows. Using GIMP to open the file and then convert it to a format used in Windows will allow the user to be able to use that image as intended.

Installing GIMP:
1. GIMP will be available in the Software Center and can be installed through that.
Using GIMP to Convert Image:
1. Open GIMP from the Start Menu

2. Select “File” then “Open”
3. Browse to the picture in question and select “Open”

4. If you get the “Convert to RGB Working Space?” pop up, select “Keep”

5. With the image open, click on “File” then to “Export As”
6. Click on the “+” icon next to “Select File Type (By Extension)”

7. Scroll down and select either “JPEG image” or “PNG image,” then press “Export”
8. In the next screen just keep default selections and click on “Export”

9. This will save a copy in the same directory as the original image in whatever format you chose.
