How to install Global Protect on an end user's computer.

Issue/Question

 
The process to get an end user installed and confirm they are on Global Protect VPN. 

Un-install Process for Zscaler - 

- Upon request of user being moved to Global Protect from Zscaler, ensure that user is removed from the Zscaler AD group (ALL_ZSCALER_VPN) to the Global Protect AD group (ALL_VPN_GLOBALPROTECT).  
- In the windows search field type "Add or Remove Program"

- Search for Zscaler and select the Un-install button then you will be prompt for your ADM credentials to remove the program off the computer.
 
- Upon request please reach out to Cyber Security for the password when prompt for a un-install password to complete the removal. 

 

Installing Global Protect - 

- Confirm that end user is showing in the correct AD group (ALL_VPN_GLOBALCONNECT)

- Copy and paste : https://vpn.westmoreland.com into a Internet browser to start the install process.

- Select the Windows 64 bit installer option when prompted.

- This will trigger the install of the Global Protect VPN software. 

- After completion of the install navigate to the task bar and find the new Global Protect icon. It will show not connected for now.

- When asked for the Portal type in vpn.westmoreland.com the select Connect.

- To ensure you are connected find the Global Protect icon and confirm you see the "Connected" status.
